Merlin raptor flies by on way to nest in nearby tree

A pair of Merlins nested in a small cluster of Black Spruce trees in this urban setting in south central Alaska. What a surprise! This neighborhood full of noisy kids, dogs, cats and humans with long-lens camers. A fast flyer, she has caught many small birds like Chicadees, Nuthatches, and Juncos here.
